Football Betting Terms:

1)    Stake- This the money you are willing to place on a bet, also known as, the amount of money you can afford to lose if the odds are not in your favor.

2)    Accumulator- A football accumulator is a series of single bets that are grouped, if each bet comes off then the odds accumulate together. When you hear people putting in a fiver on a chance and then winning a couple of thousand, this is because of accumulators. Each bet needs to win even though they can be risky.

3)    Handicap- This is a bet that is accepted, when one team seems to be a clear favorite, think about it like Brazil versus your local old boys’ club- the handicap tends to give a small advantage to the underdog. There may be one goal head start that is given to the underdog.

4)    Half Time/Full Time- This type of bet is split into two, where you predict the winner of the first half that of the entire game. So you could predict a draw at half time, but you can also predict that the home team to win by full time.

5)    Banker- This is the closest thing to a certainty that you can get; here the tipster is very sure that the bet will land if they consider it a banker.

6)    Score cast- This is when you bet on a player to score the first goal along with correctly predicting the score.

7)    Win cast- This term is quite similar to score cast, but here you bet on the player to score and then predict the winner of the game.

8) 90-minute Betting- This is mentioned quite a lot when people want to bet on individual players. Usually, if the player does not make an appearance, the bet is called off, but if the player does appear during the regular 90 minutes of the game, they are eligible for the stake.

9) 24-hour rule- Many betting sites have a state where if a match is postponed the bet only becomes void if the game does not get played within 24 hours. If the chance were pulled back for 2 hours, then the bet would still stand.

10)    Over and Under- This term is used when you bet on the number of goals that are made. Usually, it will be over or under an amount.

11)    DNB- This means “Draw No Bet,” if the score is a draw then you get your money back for your bet. This can be seen as a safe option, but you should understand that the odds are lower when this is selected.
